  • Presentation Title: Linking Extended Resource Spaces and International Entrepreneurial Orientation with the Degree of Internationalization: A Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis
  • Abstract: International entrepreneurial orientation (IEO) is noted to be a major contributor to international new market entry. While scholarly works have attempted to explain the mechanisms and boundary conditions of the relationship between IEO and international new market entry, there is a lack of clarity regarding which combinations of IEO’s dimensions lead to international new market entry. This study theorizes and empirically validates effective configurations of the IEO dimensions and international venture demographic characteristics that lead to high (or not-high) international new market entry. The study employs fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) on samples of 356 Thai and 144 Malaysian international ventures. The study identifies four types of international ventures: operationally bounded explorers and exploiters, modest explorers and exploiters, opportunity seekers, and balanced explorers and exploiters, each associated with either high or not-high international new market entry.
